      David Aamodt JD ’75 joined Markowitz Herbold Glade & Mehlhaf as of counsel after retiring from PGE as associate general counsel.

      Wrote and published a techno-thriller, Proteus, about a genetically modified oil-eating organism that goes awry.

      Was named an Oregon Super Lawyer in 2014 and 2015. Bennett is a shareholder at Bullivant Houser Bailey.

      Presented a CLE program—Ethical and Malpractice Issues Arising From Association and Consultation Relationships Between Attorneys Not in the Same Firm—at the January 16, 2015, meeting of the Idaho State Bar’s Litigation Section.

      Presented a CLE program, Differences Between Idaho and Oregon State Court Practices and Procedures, in Boise, Idaho. Berg practices in Oregon and Idaho.

      Was elected president of the National Association of Women Judges. Frantz is the first from Oregon to hold the position. She has served on the Multnomah County Circuit Court bench since 1994, and is Chief Criminal Judge.

      Julie Frantz JD ’75 was elected director for the Multnomah Bar Foundation for a three-year term. Frantz joined the Multnomah County Circuit Court in 1994 and is the chief criminal judge. She became the first female president of the Oregon State Bar and received the MBA Award of Merit in 1992. She is the former president of the Oregon Law Foundation and the Oregon Circuit Court Judges Association, and serves as the vice president of the National Association of Women Judges.

      Was invited to join the board of directors for Edison High School, a private school in Portland dedicated to assisting students with learning challenges. Grenley has been on the Board of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), which trains and supports volunteers who assist foster children in the juvenile justice system, for eight years. He is also serving on the law school’s Board of Visitors. Grenley is an owner at Garvey Schubert Barer and has been a trial lawyer for over 40 years, concentrating in securities, real estate, corporate disputes, class actions, and other complex litigation in state and federal courts.

      Received Lewis & Clark Law School’s 2015 Distinguished Business Law Graduate Award. The honor recognizes demonstrated exemplary leadership. Grenley is a partner in Garvey Schubert Barer’s business litigation practice in Portland. 

  • The Honorable John B. Lewis passed away June 7, 2016. He was 69 years old.

    John received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Portland State University. He became a sole practitioner shortly after earning his JD and was named a Hillsboro municipal court judge in 1980. John was a Washington County district and circuit court trial judge from 1993 to 2006, the last seven years of which he was the presiding family and juvenile court judge.

    Following his 2006 retirement, he started a mediation and reference judge practice with another retired judge, Al Bonebrake. John handled hundreds of cases in this capacity, ranging in type from civil and domestic relations to contracts, personal injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice.

    John is survived by his wife, Linda, and a daughter. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that gifts be made to a Lewis & Clark Law School scholarship in John’s name.

      Was honored in the 2015 issue of Oregon Super Lawyers magazine. Markley, a founding partner of the law firm Greene & Markley, was recognized in the real estate category.

      Returned to private practice, rejoining his former law firm—now Glazer, Maurer & Peterson—in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Maurer served as presiding judge of the Clackamas County Circuit Court from 2006 through 2010. His practice emphasizes personal injury, family law, criminal defense, and general civil litigation.
