      Greg Lakin JD ’88 has been named to the board of directors for Balstar Healthcare Services. Lakin is the medical director for the company’s substance abuse recovery facility Fieldview at Holland, as well as the chief medical officer of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Recently, Governor Jeff Colyer also appointed Lakin to the chair of the Kansas Substance Abuse Task Force.

      Greg Lakin JD ’88 was named chief medical officer for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment by Governor Sam Brownback, effective January 8, 2018. Lakin has spent his career working in the field of medicine, caring for people of all age groups as a family practitioner, as well as in emergency medicine, skilled nursing, and long-term care, and with patients suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. He currently serves as the medical director for Valley Hope Rehabilitation Center. Lakin earned a medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998.

      Richard Rizk JD ’88, founder of Rizk Law, PC, was named president of the South Portland Business Association in June 2018. He is also general counsel of the Cascade Ski Club. Rizk Law PC is a plaintiff’s personal injury and insurance claim law firm representing everyday people from its offices in the John’s Landing Building near Macadam Avenue in Southwest Portland.

      Michael Robinson JD ’88, a 25-year land use veteran, joined Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt’s real estate and construction industry group. Robinson focuses on obtaining land use approvals and highway access permits for a diverse client portfolio including developers and general contractors.       Was appointed U.S. magistrate judge in Eugene, Oregon, on February 25, 2016, following the retirement of the Honorable Thomas M. Coffin. Russo has served as a staff attorney and senior staff attorney for the District of Oregon since 1988. Since 2004, she has been an adjunct assistant professor at both the University of Oregon School of Law and Lewis & Clark Law School. Russo served 10 years as a Citizen Review Board Panel chair for the Oregon Supreme Court and is an active member of the U.S. District Court, District of Oregon, Local Rules Advisory Committee; the Federal Criminal Procedure and Practice Committee; and the Federal Bar Association.

      Was recognized by the Oregon Commission for Women with the Annual Oregon Women of Achievement Award. Tanner is the presiding magistrate of the Oregon Tax Court, where she has served since 1997.

      Todd L. Van Rysselberghe JD ’88 was appointed to the Clackamas County Circuit Court by Governor Kate Brown JD ’85 to fill the vacancy left by the June 2018 retirement of Judge Robert Herndon. Van Rysselberghe practiced litigation for 28 years at Kennedy Watts Arellano LLP, focusing on family law. His practice also included business litigation, professional negligence defense, consumer law, probate matters, debtor/creditor law, intellectual property, products liability, and environmental litigation. He represented clients in over 300 cases in 11 different counties throughout Oregon, and argued cases before the Oregon Court of Appeals and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
