Bergman Family Scholarship

The Bergman Family Scholarship Fund supports first-generation college graduates with financial need who have expressed an intent to pursue public service.

Matthew P. Bergman JD ’89 is a member of the Law Board of Visitors and a long-time friend of the law school. He created the Bergman Family Scholarship in honor of his daughter, Madeline “Maddie” Bergman, who graduated with her JD from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2019. Matt is nationally known for his work on behalf of asbestos victims. He has spoken at national and international seminars on asbestos litigation. He has testified before the U.S. Congress on asbestos legislative issues, as well as served on numerous creditors’ committees and trust advisory committees. He also fights for the rights of individuals and continues to work closely with local and international unions throughout the northwest.
