Michael St. Peter Endowed Scholarship

The Michael St. Peter Law Scholarship is awarded to a law student with financial need who is a military or public service veteran. Michael was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the oldest of seven children, his mother having studied at the Sorbonne, his father a judge and lawyer for the dairy industry. Michael graduated from the University of Notre Dame and then served his country in the Marine Corps, rising to the rank of Captain. His Marine Corps service, he said, was his most important educational experience and contributed to his law school success.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he was managing editor of the Wisconsin Law Review, Michael became a successful San Francisco attorney, practicing for over 40 years. Michael was also an entrepreneur and a man of many interests - the owner and publisher of a photography magazine, a fly fisherman, a sailor on San Francisco’s Bay, a pilot and the holder of a single-digit handicap who especially enjoyed Irish links. Michael was an unassuming man who befriended everyone with his warm personality, sharp wit and stable of Irish jokes. A dad, his life’s joy was found in his son, Mitch.
