Sid Lezak

Lezak Legacy Program

Honoring the Memory of Sid Lezak

Sid Lezak was a lawyer, an activist, a mediator, and an inspiration. He served at the pleasure of six presidents as the longest-serving U.S. Attorney in the country and was a pioneer in the field of mediation. Sid demonstrated his love for his profession and community through his strong commitment to public service and mentoring others.

Established in 2012, the Lezak Legacy Program at Lewis & Clark celebrates Sid’s legacy by providing stipends and mentorship to law students pursuing social change. Lezak Legacy Fellows commit to spending a summer working at nonprofit organizations in Oregon. The students gain valuable legal experience while helping organizations that might not otherwise be able to afford legal assistance. Past recipients have worked on important issues such as immigration, poverty, Native American rights, and community dispute resolution.
