About the Higgins Distinguished Visitor
The Higgins Distinguished Visitor is endowed by a grant from the Lorene Sails Higgins Charitable Trust. The program was designed to provide an opportunity for Lewis & Clark faculty and students and the Portland community to learn from and interact with leading legal scholars from around the world.
About the Speaker
A graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and the Dickinson School of Law (now Penn State Law), Chief Judge D. Brooks Smith is one of only five judges in the history of the federal judiciary to have served both as a chief district judge and as chief of the circuit.
Smith serves as a member of the Judicial Conference (the policy-making body of the Federal judiciary) and is chair of the Penn State Law Board of Advisors. He is an adjunct professor at Penn State Law where he teaches a seminar in class actions.
CLE Credit: This program has applied for one General MCLE Credit through the Oregon State Bar.
