Lunch & Learn: COVID-19 and the Flood of Civil Litigation: An Assessment
Date: 12:00pm - 1:00pm PDT July 21
Lunch & Learn: A Series Presented by L&C Faculty
Topic: COVID-19 and the Flood of Civil Litigation: An Assessment
Rarely, if ever, has a single event caused so much litigation, of such a wide variety, so quickly. In only months, thousands of individual and class action lawsuits have been filed against prisons, hospitals, airlines, cruise lines, gyms, government entities, universities, and many other kinds of defendants. The claims have sought damages and orders to halt the allegedly improper conduct. My talk will survey this litigation and discuss some of the unique legal issues raised by this litigation. It will also discuss legislative responses, including proposals to immunize various categories of defendants from civil liability.
Presenter: Professor Robert Klonoff
