Professor Rodgers is considered a founder of environmental law and is deeply respected as one of the nation's foremost experts in the field. Professor Rodgers bega n teaching at the UW School of Law in 1967\, spent seven years at Georget own University Law School\, and returned to the UW in 1979. Professor Rod gers specializes in natural resource law and is recognized as a founder o f environmental law. \;He teaches Environmental Law\, and Oceans and Coastal Law. \; Professor Rodgers is actively involved in the Environ mental Law and Litigation course\, as well as the Berman Environmental La w Clinic. He produced the first volume of his two-volume treatise entitle d Environmental Law in Indian Country (Thomson West 2005) and co-authored the recently published The Si'lailo Way: Indians\, Salmon and Law on the Columbia River (Carolina Academic Press 2006). He has been actively invo lved in the Exxon Valdez "reopener\," including publishing The Exxon Vald ez Reopener: Natural Resource Damage Settlements\, and Roads Not Taken\, in the Alaska Law Review.

Steinzor will lecture on "How White Collar Criminal Enforcement Can Save the Environment." \; The lectur e will be held in Wood Hall at the law school and is free and open to the public.
Professor Steinzor teaches administrative law\, food saf ety\, and advanced courses on the regulatory system\, as well as legal an alysis and writing/contracts. She has written extensively in the fields o f public health and the environment. She is the editor\, with Christopher Schroeder\, of \;A New Progressive Agenda for Public Health and the Environment\, published by Carolina Academic Press. Steinzor has testified before Congress on several occasions\, most recently regarding the impact of health\, safety\, and environmental regulations on the eco nomy. \;

How can a human rights perspective help to combat its wors t effects? \;The title of his talk is "The Implications of Human Righ ts Law for Addressing Climate Change".
Prof. John Knox is an inte rnationally recognized expert on human rights law and international envir onmental law. In July 2012\, the United Nations Human Rights Council appo inted him to a three-year mandate as its first Independent Expert on the issue of human rights obligations relating to the enjoyment of a safe\, c lean\, healthy and sustainable environment. In 2015\, his role was extend ed for another three years as special rapporteur. In that position\, he i s preparing \;a series of reports to the Human Rights Council on the relationship of human rights and environmental protection. H is recent scholarship addresses a wide variety of issues\, including the human rights obligations of corporations\, the application of human right s law to climate change\, citizen suits in international environmental la w\, and the extraterritorial application of U.S. law. In 2003\, he was aw arded the Francis Deák Prize\, established by the American Society of In ternational Law to honor a younger author who has made a "meritorious con tribution to international legal scholarship." For four years\, until 200 5\, he chaired a national advisory committee to EPA on the North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation\, the first regional environmen tal organization in North America. More recently\, he has provided \; pro bono \;assistance to environmental groups and to the Mal dives\, a small island state in the Indian Ocean.
After graduatin g from Stanford Law School and clerking for Judge Joseph T. Sneed of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco\, John served as an attor ney-adviser at the Department of State from 1988 to 1994. He spent four y ears in private practice in Austin\, Texas and taught at Penn State for e ight years before joining Wake Forest in 2006.
