NCVLI Launches New Child-Victimization Project
February 21, 2011
Last month NCVLI officially launched our new Safeguarding Child-Victims’ Rights Initiative! Children victimized by crime are one of the most vulnerable victim populations and, as a result, they face unique hurdles to accessing justice. To be effective advocates for child-victims, attorneys must understand the complexities of victims’ rights law generally, child-victimization specifically, and the unique challenges presented in each justice system faced by the child-victim. Through this initiative NCVLI will: 1) create and disseminate educational materials on protecting child-victims’ rights; 2) in partnership with experts from across the child-victim services field, create a two-day training on the “how-to” of providing holistic legal services to child-victims; and 3) foster a national dialogue online regarding best practices in serving child-victims and protecting their rights.
