Lewis & Clark runner strives to beat personal best

Lewis & Clark runner Lukas Arella ’13 is happy to win, and even happier to beat his personal best.

For Lukas Arella ’13, running track isn’t about winning. It’s about having fun.

Arella’s trademarks include neon shoes and orange socks, high fives, and shouts of joy. As a result, his enthusiasm and love of the sport are hard to miss, making for a fun profile in his hometown newspaper.

“This is one of the few sports where if something goes wrong, you have no one but yourself to blame,” he told the newspaper. “My goal is just to keep on improving myself.”

This year, Arella will focus on the javelin and 200 meter, with an ongoing goal of beating his personal best.
