Dean Jordan brings lifelong love of science to Lewis & Clark

When Tuajuanda Jordan started high school, science was not her favorite subject, in part due to the lack of African American role models.
Now, after a career of overcoming barriers, discovering a passion for science, and becoming a role model herself, Jordan hopes to inspire students of all types as dean of Lewis & Clark College of Arts and Sciences.
“It’s important for students to see people like me,” Jordan told the Portland Observer. “It’s also important for students to know that, to go places, you don’t need to have a mentor that looks like you.”
In the article, Jordan explains that she decided to accept the offer at Lewis & Clark because of the potential and energy she saw in the school and commitment of faculty to students.
“There is a true relationship between students and faculty, where they appear to be colleagues,” Jordan said. “Staff are committed to student success—you can feel it.”
