Curriculum Committee (2 positions)

Jonathan Dennis

Personal Statement:

I have worked on developing both multicultural and peace education curricula proposals to be implemented in public schools.  I am also active in a L&C initiative to address diversity issues (or the lack thereof) in our legal education.

Goals:

I am running for this position because I think many of our classes do not do an a sufficient job in addressing ethical, professionalism, and diversity issues.  My main objective with this committee is to help create more space in our curricula for students to consider the intersection of ethics and the practice of law.

Justin Withem

Personal Statement:
I want to advocate for a more pronounced focus within the law school’s curriculum on how issues of race and class affect outcomes of minority and underprivileged litigants in the justice system.

Goals:
I think that a vital part of an education in law should be an early exposure to the different impact that many judicial practices have had on various groups of people.  I would like to see a discussion of such issues introduced into the first-year curriculum
