Saving the Pygmy Rabbit

PEAC submitted an administrative appeal challenging the BLM’s decision to expand the use of herbicides in Oregon.

On December 1st, PEAC submitted an administrative appeal on behalf of NEDC and the Blue Mountain Biodiversity Project challenging the Bureau of Land Management’s decision to greatly expand the use of herbicides on the millions of acres of public land that it manages in Oregon.

PEAC student Amy Van Saun spent many hours drafting an appeal that points out how the BLM’s decision violates many applicable federal laws and seriously understates the adverse impacts of its decision on the people who recreate on BLM lands and the wildlife, like the rare pygmy rabbit, that depend on that land for essential habitat.
