Assistant Professor of Theatre Rebecca Lingafelter, a founding member of Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble (PETE), recently received a $6,000 Regional Arts & Culture Council grant for an upcoming production.

This summer, Lingafelter and PETE will team up with another member of the Lewis & Clark theatre faculty—Professor of Theatre Stepan Simek. Together, they will produce a site-specific adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters.

“Three Sisters: HOME will return to the fierce sparseness of the original Russian text to create a visceral new English translation,” Lingafelter said. “The play follows the lives of three sisters over five years as they navigate the personal, cultural, and political changes that rocked Russia at the end of the 19th century.”

The production will be open to the public and performed in at a private residence in northeast Portland 12 times over several weeks in July.
