20th Annual Business Law Spring Luncheon
April 21, 2015
Each year the Business Law Spring Luncheon is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and to thank the many members of the community who lend their time, resources, and talents to the curricular and extracurricular activities of the Business Law Program.
This year’s luncheon was held on April 16 at the Sentinel Hotel in downtown Portland. The event drew a crowd of more than 120 attendees, including students, faculty, student mentors, donors and practitioners. The afternoon kicked off with a welcome from Dean Jennifer Johnson, followed by lunch, and recognition of the many members of the broader business and legal communities who support the Business Law Program.
The highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of the Distinguished Business Law Graduate Award, which is awarded annually to a graduate of the Law School who has demonstrated exemplary leadership, has made a positive mark on the legal or business profession, and whose accomplishments have brought honor and distinction to the Law School. This year, that designation went to Gary Grenley ’75 from Garvey Schubert Barer Law. Mr. Grenley is a highly respected trial attorney in state and federal courts primarily in Washington and Oregon. His experience includes litigating major corporate, securities and real estate cases, many of which were certified as class actions.
Previous recipients of the Distinguished Business Law Graduate Award include: Román D. Hernández ’00, Ying Chen ’95, Jun Ge ’95, Jordan Schnitzer ’76, Michael T. Winslow ’80, Trudy Allen ’82, Jeff B. Curtis ’86, Ron (Rongwei) Cai ’90, Sen. Betsy Johnson ’77, and Wayne Perry ’75.
