Practicing Self Care

The victims’ rights community is filled with passionate and caring individuals who give so much to others. But all too often this giving does not include giving to oneself despite knowing that we are better at our work when we also take care of ourselves.  At NCVLI, one of our methods of self-care is integration of dogs into our daily work.  Click here to see pictures of some of the dogs who are by our side as we work for victims.

The victims’ rights community is filled with passionate and caring individuals who give so much to others. But all too often this giving does not include giving to oneself despite knowing that we are better at our work when we also take care of ourselves. This is one reason NCVLI conducts trainings on identifying and navigating burnout, compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma and self-care. At NCVLI, one of our methods of self-care is integration of dogs into our daily work. Click here to see pictures of some of the dogs who are by our side as we work for victims. We need our community to stay strong and healthy so that together we can create change; we encourage you to discover what heals and sustains you!
