Victims incur a myriad of expenses in the aftermath of crime. In a recent Texas case the court requested briefing on whether the domestic violence victim was entitled to restitution for wages lost when she missed work due to injuries from the assault. NCVLI worked with the prosecutor to fight to secure full restitution for this victim, providing cases to support a full restitution award. Ensuring that victims do not carry the financial burden of their own victimization is a critical part of NCVLI’s advocacy!
