Counseling Psychology welcomes largest cohort to date

As is the rhythm of academia, fall sees the return to campus of many familiar faces, as well as the arrival of a host of new ones. We are pleased to announce that this fall, however, the Counseling Psychology department welcomed many more new faces to their programs than in previous years. In fact, the incoming class of 122 students, spread across Marriage, Couple, & Family Therapy, School Psychology, Professional Mental Health Counseling, and Professional Mental Health Counseling—Specialization in Addictions, is the largest incoming Counseling Psychology cohort in the history of the department.
“Incoming students were selected from an unprecedented number of applications across four programs,” says Teresa McDowell, Professor and Chair of the department. “Like the cohorts before them, this group shares the potential to achieve excellence in their chosen professions along with a strong commitment to our social justice mission.”
During their time as graduate students they will participate in courses taught by expert faculty, and gain practical experience through supervised field placements throughout the greater Portland area.
