Matt Utterback, superintendent of the North Clackamas School District, is being hailed as the best in the state.
According to an article in the Oregonian, under Utterback’s leadership the district’s graduation rate and test scores went from mediocre to near-tops among large Oregon districts, even as tighter-than-average budgetary straits posed huge challenges.
Utterback attended Lewis & Clark’s Graduate School of Education and Counseling where he graduated from the department of teacher education with his MAT in social studies, later returning to earn his continuing administrator license from the department of educational leadership.
This is the third year in a row that an alum from the Graduate School has been named Oregon Superintendent of the Year. Heidi Sipe and Don Grotting, also graduates of the educational leadership department, were honored with the recognition in 2016 and 2015, respectively.
