New Pios

New Student Orientation is an exciting time at Lewis & Clark, with members of the Class of 2021 and transfer students arriving from around the world.

During New Student Orientation, students become familiar with academic and cocurricular life at Lewis & Clark. Our programs and events help make the transition to college life as seamless as possible by introducing students to the campus environment; providing them opportunities to meet classmates, faculty, and staff; and equipping new Pioneers with the tools and resources necessary for success.

Incoming president Wim Wiewel, Dean of Students Anna Gonzalez, and Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Bruce Suttmeier were on hand to greet the new students and assist with move-in. Numerous returning students and NSO leaders, as well as faculty and staff volunteers clad in orange “Care Crew” T-shirts, also helped get the new Pios and their families situated.

The members of the Lewis & Clark community represent a wide array of ages, cultures, backgrounds, gender identities, nationalities, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, and beliefs. This year, the college is welcoming 533 first-year and transfer students. Twelve percent of the incoming Pioneers are international citizens, and 24 percent are U.S. students of color.
