A Day of Relief – Law Students Make Care Packages for Portland’s Homeless

About 100 Lewis & Clark Law students worked to make some 300 personal care packages, 100 feminine care packages and 70 “puppy packages” for Portland’s homeless and their dogs.
Quincy Frazier ’19, had the idea to help homeless when he was feeling particularly stressed by his law studies. “I was so focused on myself the year and half at Lewis & Clark, I realized I needed to do something for others and give back., “ said Quincy. “ Then I was amazed so many of my fellow students were excited to join me to make this happen. It was truly a team effort.”
Many student organizations contributed in one way or another for the event (SBA, BLSA, SALDF, OUTLAW, PILP, WLC, FLC, Ifwhenhow, PēPs, CLS, MLSA). Students were able to secure sponsor donations the Bacon Family, Columbia, Cornell Dental, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Petsmart. Lewis & Clark staff and students also contributed.
Students assembled the packages at the law school and a group distributed them on a rainy Sunday afternoon in O’Bryant Park in downtown Portland, partnering with Potluck in the Park.
KOIN News covered the event in a segment aired Sunday November 5.
