Lewis & Clark Students Took Top Honors at the Annual Toyama Cup Japanese Speech Contest 2018

Lewis & Clark students took top honors at the annual Toyama Cup Japanese Speech Contest on April 22, 2018.

Lewis & Clark students participated successfully in the annual Toyama Cup Japanese Speech Contest 2018.  This event, which brings together university students from all over Oregon, southwest Washington and Idaho, is extremely competitive.  Students from University of Oregon, Pacific University, Linfield College and Lewis & Clark College were participating in this contest this year.

 

Level I - any student who is currently in 100 and 200 level Japanese class:

1. Brooke Petersen, Clark College

2. Guillia Cordella, Lewis & Clark College

3. Kai Swift, Lewis & Clark College

 

Level II - Any student who is currently in 300 and 400 level Japanese class:

1.  Jack Glenn, Willamette University

2.  Christopher Gatling, Willamette University

3.  Sara Wilky, Lewis & Clark College

 

Special thanks must tgo o to our Japanese instructors Dr. Atsuko Kurogi and Satomi Hayashi, and ourJapanese Language Assistant, Yuka Kishiue, who worked tirelessly with these students the past few weeks, refining and practicing their speeches.  These awards are a product of countless hours of effort, and attest to the great work our students are doing in and out of the classroom.
