Even in the midst of Conference preparations legal advocacy for victims cannot stop. This week the NCVLI legal team is responding to requests for technical assistance from across the country, including:
- A California attorney fighting for a sexual assault victim who was not afforded her rights of conferral or to be heard at a change of plea hearing;
- A Massachusetts attorney fighting to ensure access to justice for a human trafficking victim by ensuring that the first complaint doctrine is properly applied; and
- A Wisconsin advocate who is seeking to ensure that victim privacy is protected by allowing victims to proceed by pseudonym from the very start of a case - in the charging documents.
