Earthrise Lawsuit Results in Better Water Quality in Washington - A Victory for Endangered Salmon!
On behalf of our client, Northwest Environmental Advocates, last week Earthrise settled a long-running lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency that will result in water quality improvements in Washington and more protections for endangered salmon. EPA must now reconsider several of its approvals of Washington’s water quality standards, and determine how those actions are affecting endangered salmon. In addition, the Washington Department of Ecology agreed to develop new criteria for fine sediment discharged into streams. These new standards will help wild salmon eggs incubating in gravel beds by ensuring the eggs are getting enough oxygen to survive.
