On May 23, Jane Monnig Atkinson, vice president and provost, was awarded the Morgan Odell Medal, the college’s highest honor. She received the award on the occasion of her retirement after 39 years of outstanding teaching, leadership, and service.

President Wim Wiewel delivered the Board of Trustees’ resolution, which referred to Atkinson as “a beloved professor, an accomplished scholar, an exemplary administrator, and a selfless leader, who has inspired generations of Lewis & Clark students, colleagues, alumni, and friends.” The award was designed to be a surprise for Atkinson: “You got me,” she said, “I’m overwhelmed.”
