Shawn Filippi ’99 is Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary of NW Natural Holdings and NW Natural. She has served as Vice President and Corporate Secretary of NW Natural since 2015, and assumed Chief Compliance Officer responsibilities in 2016. In her current roles, she leads the NW Natural entities’ general corporate Business Integrity and Compliance program, which won a national award for best small- and mid-cap Ethics and Compliance Program in 2018. Ms. Filippi also leads general corporate governance, securities and finance work for the NW Natural entities. Day-to-day work includes providing corporate governance advice and counsel to the NW Natural entities’ Board of Directors; participating as a member of the NW Natural financial reporting and public company disclosure team; facilitating public equity and public and private debt issuances; managing the company’s Shareholder Services and Risk and Land departments; and engaging as an active member of the NW Natural and NW Holdings executive teams.

Shawn joined NW Natural in 2005 as Corporate Legal Counsel and has held a variety of roles at NW Natural including responsibilities for providing general legal counsel in the areas of human resources and employment, employee benefits, accounting and finance, rates and regulatory, tax, corporate, securities and finance, among others. She moved to NW Natural after spending six years at Stoel Rives LLP, where she practiced in the Corporate, Securities and Finance practice group, conducting work in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, public company reporting, venture capital financing, and other general corporate business matters.

Shawn has served as Trustee of the Oregon Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS) Foundation.

Shawn earned her BS from Kansas State University (1994), cum laude. She attended a Masters Program (ABT) in Communications Studies from Portland State University. She earned her JD from Lewis & Clark Law School (1999), magna cum laude. In law school Ms. Filippi was a Business and Tax Law Scholar and Managing Editor of a predecessor to the Lewis & Clark Law Review. Shawn has been active on behalf of the law school as a Member of the Board of Visitors and past Trustee and Chair of the Governance Committee of the Lewis & Clark Alumni Board of Directors. She has also spoken at an Xperiential Workshop, an innovative educational program held regularly by the Center for Business Law & Innovation.
