Multi-Tasking Services LLC, owned and operated by Darwin Bello, offers cleaning and janitorial services to commercial establishments in the Portland metro area. It is a relatively new business that has been running since September 01, 2019. “We are here to serve” is Darwin’s business slogan and mission. Darwin’s vision for this business is to create consciousness about cleaning spaces and sanitation and bring those services to our communities, especially now during the pandemic.

Starting a business is not an easy, even more so during a pandemic. Darwin has encountered some obstacles to maintain his business afloat. The closure of establishments such as restaurants, commercial offices, fitness facilities, and schools, impacted current and potential clients. As employees began to work remotely from home, and empty office spaces did not need cleaning, Darwin’s business was greatly affected. Due to the circumstances, Darwin made new additions to the services his business offered. He began providing services such as sanitation and expanded the business’ scope of work by considering other manual labor services. He hopes to provide more services for the community and create new employment for immigrant communities. “It is time for all of us to come together as a community,” says Darwin.

Although it was a challenging year, Multi-Tasking Services LLC has some big achievements to celebrate. One of them was creating new partnerships by scoring their first contract with a private company after only one year of being established.

In times of uncertainty, Darwin believes that the SBLC helped with his business journey in many significant ways. One of them was helping him navigate through the legal system. The clinic guided Darwin through employment law and regulatory compliance as he changed his businesses’ focus to multi-services. He is very thankful to the clinic for giving him business advice and clarifying business legal matters, allowing him to work confidently. The SBLC assisted Darwin by creating a contract to hire independent contractors, allowing him to feel safe about the process of getting working with others. As an entrepreneur, Darwin has many ideas for future businesses and many questions on making his ideas and dreams happen. The legal help he received at the SBLC gave him a solid and confident start.
