Students take first place in Mid-Atlantic Super Regional Jessup International Moot Court Competition

Lewis & Clark’s Jessup International Moot Court team of Lauren Cullop, Dan Rowan, Stephen Schwindt, Vince Sliwoski and Joe Terrenzio won the Mid-Atlantic Super-Regional Competition February 21, 2010.  This regional is widely considered the toughest Jessup regional competition in the world. Competing at George Washington University, Lewis & Clark ranked first out of the 24 teams going into the quarterfinals. The team also won the regional Best Memorials (briefs) award. Out of 93 speakers, Lewis & Clark students Dan Rowan and Vince Sliwoski tied for 8th place and Joe Terrenzio placed 11th. Our team defeated George Washington Law School in the quarterfinals, American in the semifinals and Georgetown in the final.  This year’s team joins the ranks of three other Lewis & Clark teams in the past 20 years (1990, 2006 and 2007) who have gone on to compete in the international competition.
The team is now headed for the Jessup World Cup, in Washington, D.C. March 21-27, where they will compete with the top teams from the other regions from the U.S. as well as from nations around the world.
