Earthrise is hiring a Legal Fellow for fall 2022!
Earthrise Law Center is seeking a 2022 (or December 2021) law school graduate to be a Founder’s Legacy legal fellow starting in late August 2022. This is a temporary, two-year fellowship with no option for extension.
Earthrise has a full docket of exciting and complex litigation covering a broad spectrum of environmental laws and issues. For example, currently Earthrise staff and students are working on cases involving endangered species, water quality standards, forest protection, energy infrastructure, and more. The fellow will assist Earthrise faculty members and staff attorneys in all aspects of their litigation matters, including case development, motions practice, communicating with clients and expert witnesses, discovery, oral argument, and settlement. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with and learn from attorneys who are dedicated both to public interest environmental litigation and to training new lawyers on how to be successful advocates. The fellow will also work to develop their own cases.
Earthrise is looking for a smart, enthusiastic, hard-working person with a positive attitude and a desire to have a career in the public interest environmental legal field.
Qualifications:
- December 2021 or Spring 2022 law school graduate
- Will be licensed to practice in Oregon within 1 year
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to public interest environmental law
- You do not need to have taken the Earthrise clinic course to apply for this position
