Post-Conviction Assistance to Sexual Assault Victim
April 14, 2010
A young girl was sexually assaulted by her neighbor, a teenager, in Minnesota. The teenager was adjudged juvenile, had a number of probation conditions imposed upon him, and was allowed to return home.
This means that the victim runs the considerable risk of seeing her offender in her own neighborhood.
At the request of the amazing victim advocates in Minnesota, NCVLI researched and prepared a memorandum exploring ways in which probation conditions could best protect the victim.
The advocacy groups in Minnesota are now fighting to keep this victim safe.
