Hi, my name is Sahana Ramdas, I am from India and have been an avid animal lover and have been engaged in animal advocacy ever since my childhood days which propelled me to pursue formal legal education. Soon after graduation, for over a year, I practiced in areas of Civil litigation which wasn’t gratifying, after which I moved into the Capital of India-Delhi to work as the Legal Counsel for two animal welfare organizations that work for wildlife conservation and companion- domestic animal protection, during the course of which I worked on various animal law matters such as initiation and prosecution of wildlife criminals such as poachers, traffickers, smugglers, co-authored a book on wildlife crime - law enforcement, worked with law enforcement agencies to conduct law enforcement workshops to spread knowledge on wildlife and animal laws, assisted in instituting and handling cases against animal offenders, represented the Organizations work and handled legal aspects of their functioning etc. Considering my passion for law and animal advocacy, Lewis & Clark Law School was my dream school to continue my higher education in, so I am thrilled to be a student here and I am honored to be representing my class as the LLM representative.
In my free time, I am a voracious reader, dancer, explorer of places, an eager learner, trekker and prefer volunteering for vulnerable sections of the society.
My interests in animal law are many, but at this point, I am mainly interested in the intersection of animal laws with environmental laws.
