Tess joined the development team in 2020. She grew up on a farm in rural Wisconsin which she states is the reason for her love of early mornings. She attended Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Virginia where she graduated cum laude with a degree in Legal Studies and a minor in Business Administration in 2013. She then spent three years working as a legal assistant and an educational program assistant in Tennessee and Washington D.C., respectively, before coming to Portland to attend law school. She graduated with a JD from Lewis & Clark in 2019 and with an Environmental Law LLM in 2020 and is licensed in the State of Oregon.
Before joining the development team Tess was a Legal Fellow for the International Environmental Law Project (now Global Law Alliance). She also worked as an Admissions Interviewer and assistant to the Assistant Dean of Marketing & Communications. She interned in the first public interest law firm in Cambodia doing environmental and indigenous law work in 2018.
Tess loves to travel and has studied abroad in four different countries and traveled to many more including: India, Germany, South Africa, and China. Her favorite trip to date was a horseback riding safari she did in Botswana, right before COVID shut down the world.
Tess currently lives in Milwaukie with her cat, dog, and horse. When not spending time with her animals she enjoys bouldering, reading, photography, and exploring the PNW on her own two feet or on her motorcycle.
