Anticipated Graduation Year? I plan to graduate in spring of 2022.
Hometown? I grew up in Central Oregon, splitting time between Sisters and Bend.
Undergraduate & Previous Work Experience. I attended undergraduate school at Claremont McKenna College, where I majored in Philosophy and Government.
Are you currently employed? If so, with whom? I am not currently employed but am looking for work next summer.
What sparked your interest in studying intellectual property law? Working in Silicon Valley after undergraduate school kindled my interest in IP law, considering that I saw different applications of intellectual property every day on my rides from the city down the peninsula.
What do you find most interesting/surprising about intellectual property law? The most stimulating part of IP, for me, is the way it applies to the cutting-edge.
Are you involved with any extracurricular activities? At the law school I am involved with the Public Interest Law Project, the Intellectual Property Student Organization, and the Student Bar Association’s equity, inclusion, and curriculum reform efforts. I also play on the Lewis & Clark undergraduate club soccer team.
What do you like to do for fun? I love to backcountry ski, play soccer, cook, play spikeball, visit humane societies, and read all the fiction I can get my hands on!
Favorite places in Portland? My favorite places in Portland are Wallace Park, Powell’s Books, and Forest Park.
Why did you pick Lewis & Clark Law School? I picked Lewis & Clark because I wanted to return to the Pacific Northwest among peers who wanted to work together, not tear each other apart.
What do you like most about Lewis & Clark? I love the way the faculty enjoys asking questions and engaging with students. Even in the Zoom world, this feels true, and makes me grateful for such involved professors.
What has been your favorite experience so far? My favorite experience of this year has been my Mock Trial class. Even though it has been partially online, the course has showcased how exciting litigation can be!
Any advice for new students? My advice to new students is to read your written work aloud to edit, talk to people that are doing the work in which you are interested, and to feel welcome to reach out— people in Portland are kind and want to help you achieve your goals.
