After completing an undergraduate degree in environment and sustainable development in his native Chile, Diego Plaza successfully competed an LLM in Animal Law at Lewis & Clark Law School, graduating with honors.

He has since used his degree and legal knowledge as Founder and President at Fundación Justicia Interespecie (Interspecies Justice Foundation), an NGO dedicated to advancing the interests of humans and non-humans. 

Diego is also the founder and executive director of the Center for Chilean Animal Law Studies CEDA Chile. He conducts legal research and is co-researcher of the “Handbook on Global Animal Law,” organized by the Animal Law & Policy Program of Harvard Law School and Max Planck Institute to be published in 2022 in the Oxford Handbook Series, Oxford University Press.

He was recently selected as a 2021-2022 CALS Ambassador for the Center for Animal Law Studies (Lewis & Clark) and is an Associate member of the Animals & Biodiversity Think Tank Programme (Global Research Network).
