Adjunct Law Faculty
Lynn Stafford graduated from the University of California at Davis and George Mason University School of Law, where she was an editor of the George Mason University Law Review. Upon graduation, Lynn was admitted to the Vermont State Bar and practiced in Bennington, Vermont for two years. She was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 1982, and after association with two other Portland firms, she joined Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf in 1986. She was the firm’s managing shareholder from 1999 to 2006.
While with the Markowitz Herbold firm, she specialized in complex commercial litigation, including shareholder disputes, business torts, and real estate litigation. She was co-lead counsel on two separate multi-million dollar malpractice claims against accounting firms. She also handled the complex auditing aspects of a claim by a prominent sports figure for breach of an endorsement contract. Throughout her practice, she continued to perform the transactional work that predominated earlier in her career.
Lynn retired from Markowitz Herbold in 2008. Since that time she has pursued an individual practice. In addition to teaching the Contract Drafting Seminar at Lewis and Clark, she also volunteers legal services for Oregonians in Action organizations, the Portland Ballet and Imago Theatre.
