Lewis & Clark Law School Animal Legal Defense Fund

Brittany Hill

Brittany is a 3L at Lewis and Clark. Originally from the Bay Area of California, Brittany graduated from Santa Clara University with a degree in Philosophy and worked in immigration for four years as a paralegal prior to coming to L&C. Early during her 1L year, Brittany became involved in L&C’s Animal Legal Defense Fund Student Chapter and felt fortunate to finally meet a group of people so dedicated to animal rights and welfare. During her 2L year, Brittany served as the Public Relations Chair and jumped at the chance to help engage with the L&C and local communities. Notably, Brittany organized a screening of Called to Rescue that featured a Q&A with Gene Baur.

This past summer Brittany had the honor of clerking for the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s Criminal Justice Program here in Portland.

Brittany’s interests include increasing the intersectionality of animal law with other areas of law, particularly criminal law. In addition, Brittany wants to promote animal rights as a social justice issue and help dispel the myth that those interested in advancing animal protections are not (or cannot be) interested in advancing human rights, as well.

This year, Brittany is excited to serve the L&C Student Chapter as Co-Director (with such an amazing board) and thrilled to continue to work with L&C’s Criminal Justice Reform Clinic as an extern and continue to learn how to advocate for vulnerable populations.

In her spare time, Brittany enjoys spending time with her sassy, yet sweet rescue kitty, Lucy, hiking, and exploring Portland.
