Active Duty U.S. Navy Judge Advocate, Deputy Environmental Counsel for U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Habor, Hawai’i.

Sean Thompson LLM ’17 serves as an active duty U.S. Navy judge advocate in the position of Deputy Environmental Counsel for U.S. Pacific Fleet, located in Pearl Harbor, Hawai’i.  The world’s largest fleet command, the U.S. Pacific Fleet encompasses 100 million square miles, nearly half the Earth’s surface, advancing Indo-Asia-Pacific regional maritime security and stability.

As an environmental counsel, he serves as legal advisor to multiple Fleet military readiness activities encompassing the waters of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Alaska, Southern California, Hawai’i, and the Pacific Northwest.  Sean provides legal counsel on myriad environmental statutory and regulatory matters, to include the National Environmental Policy Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act, Endangered Species Act, and the Coastal Zone Management Act.

Prior to earning his LLM from Lewis and Clark, Sean provided legal counsel to various commands across the globe on matters encompassing intelligence, combined, joint, and interagency operations, counterterrorism, and maritime security.
