Specialized Intensive Trainings
ESA Short Courses for Agency Employees
For almost two decades, the environmental law program has offered several annual short courses on the Endangered Species Act for U.S. Forest Service and other agency specialists and line officers. The courses provide an overview of the ESA and important cases interpreting it, with special focus on federal agency consultation under section 7 of the ESA. For more information, see Forest Service’s Continuing Education for Natural Resource Professionals or contact Kelly Novahom, Environmental, Natural Resource, & Energy Law Program Coordinator, at knovahom@lclark.edu.
Environmental Seminar for Federal Judges
The environmental program also offers an annual one-week seminar on environmental law for federal judges, in collaboration with the Federal Judicial Center. The seminar covers all of the major environmental statutes a federal judge might encounter on his or her docket, including pollution control and resource allocation statutes.
The program has also had the pleasure of hosting groups of judges from Brazil who are interested in learning the basics of U.S. environmental law as their country refines its own system of environmental law and implementation.
