    The Center for Business Law and Innovation invites you to join us for an insightful discussion with Ben Lauritsen.  Ben advises the Trail Blazers and the Rose Quarter in strategy, operations, negotiations, disputes, and compliance.  In addition to leading the team’s legal functions, he oversees the team’s Human Resources and Community Outreach departments and serves as Board President of the Trail Blazers Foundation.  Ben will be talking about the amazing complexity of working for a professional sports team, the unique career path that led him to Portland, and how often he is asked for free tickets to games. 

    This is a rare opportunity for students to hear from a leader in the sports industry.

  • 8:30am - 6:00pm: 23rd Annual Business Law Fall Forum “The Procedure of IP”
    This forum will explore the various ways in which the laws of Civil Procedure and Intellectual Property intersect.  Among other things, speakers will cover preclusion in the context of administrative proceedings, the territorial scope of IP claims and remedies generally, equitable estoppel within copyright cases, jury instructions in copyright cases, and the standards for infringement and burdens of proof in copyright cases.

  • 8:00am - 5:00pm: Food Fusion: Law’s Sustaining Role in Food

    From urban ag to business advice, the second annual Food Law Forum will feature informative panels of local experts addressing legal and policy issues involved in producing and providing the food we eat.  The interactive sessions will include topics ranging from: urban farming to land use, food startups, micro-entrepreneurship, licensing, labeling, and alcohol distribution. The forum is designed for law students, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and other professionals currently working, or interested in, in the food and agriculture industries. The forum is made possible through a collaboration of the Business Law Programs and the student Food and Wine Law Society.
