President: Grace Heglund-Lohman

Grace Heglund-Lohman Grace Heglund-Lohman (she/her) is a 3L interested in Indigenous Food Sovereignty. Prior to law school, Grace served as an AmeriCorp member with the No Kid Hungry Cooking Matters campaign, which inspired her to get a master’s degree in Public Health Nutrition. She is interested in taking her legal (and nutrition) education back to her home state of Alaska after finishing school. During her 1L summer, Grace clerked with the USDA Office of General Counsel in Portland, Oregon. In her life outside of school, she prefers reading about plants, baking, and running with her dog Murphy!

Co-Vice President: Colin Pohlman

Colin Pohlman Colin is a 3L from Northern Virginia studying environmental and natural resources law with a specific interest in agricultural law and policy. He has always been passionate about food, farming, and cooking, and has worked on farms and for the Washington Farm Bureau. A fun fact about him is that his undergraduate study abroad program focused on Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture traveled to Ecuador, Malawi, and Italy to comparatively study global food systems. Colin also serves as the President of the National Food Law Student Network, an organization of law students from around the country dedicated to promoting the study and practice of food law and related fields.

 

Co-Vice President: Abigail Contreras 

Abigail Contreras Abigail Contreras (she/her) is currently a 3L serving as Co-Vice President for FALS. Her interest in Food & Ag stems from her undergraduate background in Sustainable Food Systems. During her 1L summer, she worked at an environmental nonprofit, Earth Law Center. Currently, she works law clerk for Professor Tischler, researching environmental issues connected to confined animal feeding operations. This spring she will be working as a corporate counsel extern for a vitamin company based in Vancouver, WA. This summer, she will be a summer associate for the environmental practice group of Hunton, Andrews & Kurth based in San Francisco. In her free time, she enjoys skiing on Mt. Hood. Talk to her about CAFOs and the Clean Water Act!

Secretary: Zach Nacev

Zach Nacev (1L Representative) Zach (he/him) is a former high school teacher, soccer player, and dedicated home chef. He is a 2L interested in the intersections between food, environmental justice, and culture.

Treasurer: Allie Schauer

Allie Schauer Allie Schauer is a 3L at Lewis & Clark Law School. Allie graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020 with a BA in History and Sustainability Studies and a minor in Polish. She has worked with the Global Law Alliance and the Center for Biological Diversity on international wildlife litigation and legal projects and plans to build her career around international wildlife and environmental work. She has a special interest in sustainable agriculture, farm animal welfare, and equitable access to nutritious foods. In her free time, Allie enjoys hiking with her dog, watching movies, and exploring local oddities.

 

1L Representative: Tayler Workman

Tayler (she/her) is a 1L and currently serving as the 1L Representative for FALS. Growing up in a small farming community in Indiana, she has always been interested in sustainable agriculture, farm animal welfare, and food security. In her free time, she loves cooking (often in competitions with friends), reading non-fiction, and hiking around the PNW with her dog.
