Join the Immigration Student Group for our Immigration Law Career Panel on Wednesday October 18th, at 12:10pm in Room 1! Five local immigration attorneys will join us to share their career paths, what they love about their jobs and their biggest challenges, and advice for law students considering immigration law. The panelists’ experience includes working for the immigration court, representing asylum seekers, crimmigration, 9th Circuit appeals, and detention defense. RSVP required; please RSVP here. Radical Queer Legal Studies Speaker Series presents: A Panel on Immigration

NLG of Lewis & Clark Law School, NLG of Portland, and OutLaw are thrilled to welcome Ann Garcia (she/her) of the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild in conversation with Jess Olave ’23 (she/her) and Leni Tupper (she/her) of PCC Clear Clinic for a panel discussion and Q&A on the topic of immigration moderated by Natalie Webb ’23 (she/her) as part of the second annual Radical Queer Legal Studies Speaker Series.

The event will feature a panel discussion of 60 minutes followed by a Q&A, and will be live and recorded. Food and soft drinks will be provided. Please RSVP so that we know how much food to provide.

Film Screening: The Undocumented Lawyer

ISG is hosting an early screening of the HBO documentary, The Undocumented Lawyer. We’ll host a virtual Q&A with Lizbeth Mateo, the attorney profiled in the film, as well as one of the filmmakers, Zach Ingrasci. We’ll discuss immigration law, the Sanctuary movement, and fighting for justice in 2020.

This will be an opportunity where students can engage in an informal discussion with Oregon’s chief legal advisor, Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum. Attorney General Rosenblum will discuss the details of her position, the path which she took to get to where she is today and how her position interacts with the Governor’s Office and other aspects of the administration. There will also be a Q&A for students to ask questions.
