Professor Nikolaus Loening published an article in the journal Protein Science. The paper “Exploration of the interaction between dynein intermediate chain and dynactin p150Glued reveals a novel binding interface” features seven LC BCMB students as co-authors (A. J. Di Nicola, Bryn L. Romig, Stella M. Davis, Paul H. Cleary, Claire H. Yung, Daniel R. Marsan, Anna C. Merkt).

One key interaction between the dynein motor protein and its co-factor dynactin occurs between the intermediate chain subunit of dynein and the p150Glued subunit of dynactin. In this work, we localize the interface at which these proteins interact and show that this interaction is unaffected by a mutation that mimics phosphorylation.
