Welcome Students!
Guest Columnists: Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students Ben Meoz and President Robin Holmes-Sullivan.

Good morning L&C students!
Today kicks off the fall semester and new academic year, and I hope you woke up feeling all the potential of a new year. It’s one of my favorite parts of the year as we welcome new students into our community and help them to find ways to plug into the many opportunities to get involved on campus and shape the Lewis & Clark experience.
First year students, welcome to The Bark newsletter. It will hit your inbox every Monday with updates, events, and news from the division of Student Life and beyond (and maybe a playlist). To our sophomores and juniors, welcome back to another year! Keep your momentum up and enjoy reconnecting with peers after the summer break and help us to show our newest community members how it’s done. Seniors, welcome to that final lap. In my four years at L&C I have been continually impressed by how hard our seniors work, and the quality and complexity of scholarship and leadership they bring to our campus.
Our year kicks off with SEE Fair this Friday from 3-5pm on the academic quad, where our student organizations will be on full display, as well as the selection of the new L&C mascot. Tomorrow we’ll announce the finalists and voting will start in just over a week!
Lastly, as we enter this year I find it important to underscore some of what is special about our community, like the peer support and advocacy we have on campus. Whether it is our student organizations, our student leaders, or a culture of dialogue and genuine curiosity we know that our collective engagement and efforts as a community make us stronger and more resilient.
This Fall, look for me Tuesdays at 3:30pm in the Trail Room for my office hours, or swing by the Vice President for Student Life / Dean of Students office in East Hall 101 to say hello or make use of some of our study spots during the day, Monday through Friday.
And again, welcome to a new year at L&C, we hope it’s golden!
Best,
Dr. Benjamin C. Meoz

Dear Students,
Welcome to a new academic year! I am so glad you are here and part of our vibrant community. Each year brings fresh opportunities to learn, connect, and grow. I look forward to meeting many of you along the way.
To help us stay connected, I invite you to join me at several events throughout the year:
Open Office Hours
Drop by for conversation—whether you’d like to ask questions, raise an issue that matters to you, or share exciting news about your studies or program.
Coffee Chats
Come say hello, bring your questions or ideas, or simply enjoy good company over a cup of coffee. Complimentary coffee and snacks will be provided, and it’s a wonderful way to engage in open dialogue. Like office hours, these sessions are not intended to bypass our regular decision-making channels, but they are meant to foster connection and conversation.
Meals in Fields Dining Room
My wife and I regularly enjoy meals in the Bon to better connect with students. Please don’t hesitate to come sit with us, we’d love to share a table and hear about your experiences on campus.
Keep an eye out for announcements with dates and details for these events. This community is made stronger by your voices, your ideas, and your presence. I look forward to seeing you, hearing from you, and building an engaged and supportive year together.
With warm regards,
Dr. Robin Holmes-Sullivan
President
