This time of year, scammers target students with fake job offers that may look like they come from L&C faculty or staff. Remember: legitimate Lewis & Clark jobs will always come from an @lclark.edu email address.

Red flags of scams:

  • “Research assistant” or “administrative assistant” jobs sent from non-L&C emails

  • Requests to buy equipment or pay fees up front (with promises of reimbursement)

  • Fake checks that ask you to deposit money and then wire funds back

Protect yourself:

  • Be skeptical of unsolicited offers, especially those promising high pay for little work

  • Never share bank or personal info over email

  • Report suspicious messages to: security@lclark.edu
