New Guest Wi-Fi Network Launching November 4
On November 4, Information Technology will launch a new guest Wi-Fi network named LC Guest, to eventually replace the current PIONET Guest network. The PIONET Guest network will be turned off on January 5, 2026.
Information Technology is launching a new guest Wi-Fi network named LC Guest. This network will replace the current PIONET Guest network, which will be retired on January 5, 2026. LC Guest and PIONET Guest provide unsecured internet access only and do not permit connection to internal LC systems.
LC Guest reflects current expectations for responsible and accountable network access. Visitors will connect by entering their email address and using a PIN sent to their inbox. The PIN will be valid for up to seven days.
If your department hosts visitors, we encourage you to become familiar with the new process and consider any signage or guides that might help your guests connect easily.
How Guests Connect via LC Guest
- Connect to LC Guest in the device’s Wi-Fi settings.
- Enter a valid email address when prompted.
- Check your inbox for a one-time PIN.
- Enter the PIN to connect (valid for 7 days).
FAQ for Hosts
Do I need to set anything up for my guests?
No setup is required, but it’s helpful to know the steps above so you can guide guests if they need help.
Can I request a PIN on a guest’s behalf?
No, each guest must enter their own email address and receive their own PIN.
What if a guest doesn’t get the PIN email?
Ask them to check their spam folder. They can re-submit their email if needed.
What if a guest can’t access the internet to check their email?
Hosts may need to facilitate the ability of guests to access the internet to check their email.
What if a guest doesn’t have email?
They’ll need one to access the network. Consider helping them create a free account like Gmail.
Will guests need help?
Maybe. We’ll have instructions and FAQs available on the IT Website and guests can visit the IT Service Desk during open hours. You can also walk them through the steps if needed.
Thanks for helping make Lewis & Clark a welcoming place for all visitors. If you have any questions or need further assistance with this change, please contact the IT Service Desk at itservice@lclark.edu.
