Exhibit: Saying Yes to Ambiguity Phyllis Yes and Resisting Gender Norms

This exhibit showcases the works of Phyllis Yes, an artist and emerita professor at Lewis & Clark. Yes’s art encourages viewers to challenge their perceptions of societal gender norms. The collection features prints, sketches, and articles related to her work. Curated by L&C student Zainab Hamib ’29. On display on the top floor of Watzek Library.

Created to coincide with the Gender Studies Symposium 45th Annual Gender Studies  Symposium RESIST NOW! March 11–13, 2026, this exhibit examines three different artistic works or series by Phyllis Yes and how they respond to and challenge notions of gender: “Por She” Lace Porsche, Epaulettes, and Flowers.
