When Sarah Wedemeyer BA ’98 arrived at Lewis & Clark in the mid-90s, she initially imagined a future in the Foreign Service but soon realized that politics wasn’t for her. Instead, she found herself captivated by the cultural nuances explored in her International Affairs courses and pursued a double-major in Sociology/Anthropology and French.

Today, she leads a brand strategy team at a major accounting firm and often jokes about her degree–what could be less applicable, on paper, to the business world? But Sarah, like so many alumni, credits the liberal arts education she received at Lewis & Clark as the engine of her professional success. The ability to think critically, consider different points of view, and write with clarity and persuasion are the very tools she uses every day.

“Lewis & Clark is an incubator—a place where I had the time and space not only to feed my curiosity, but was expected to explore new things and ways of thinking. We live in a time where students are pressured to choose programs that lead directly to a career path. If I had followed that route, I would have missed the very foundation of my later success.-Sarah Wedemeyer BA ’98

Honoring the L&C Journey
In a world that increasingly pressures students to choose a narrow path, Lewis & Clark has given generations of alumni the space, motivation, and resources to discover who they truly want to be.

This transformative environment is only possible because of the community that surrounds it. We are deeply grateful to the alumni and parents who have already supported L&C so generously this academic year. Your contributions provide the scholarships, faculty mentorship, and campus resources that allow current students to follow their curiosity wherever it leads.

Help Us Close the Year Strong
As we look toward the future, we invite you to help us ensure that the next generation of students has the same opportunity to turn their curiosity into a career. Every gift, no matter the size, helps bridge the gap for a student who is ready to change the world.

If you wish to make a gift before the end of our fiscal year on May 31, please visit go.lclark.edu/give. Your support ensures that the path from curiosity to career remains open for every student.
