Advice or Tips for any L&C students: No one comes to college with the exact same story, and everyone brings their own expectations and hopes. What I can assure you is that every single person has felt lost at least once during their time at college, and that’s completely normal! You will feel that way at some point, too.
You might feel lonely, sad, or tired, and that’s okay. What I truly love about L&C is that someone will always be here for you when those feelings show up. Whether it’s a professor, an advisor, a friend, or especially a GEM mentor!
There is always someone ready to support you and help you figure out your first step. So my advice is: please, please, please remember that you are never alone in what you’re feeling! People around you understand and share more with you than you might think! All you need to do is reach out for help when you feel stuck; there’s always someone ready to listen and support you!
Involvements on Campus: Worked for 2 years with Dr. Lindy as a biology student employee (and worked with Dr. Norma during that time too). This past summer, I was an intern at Rogers in Dr. Tamily’s lab on campus. Past ISLC leader (chairperson of activities, and then ISLC Rep to ASB Senate). Running Club member. Worked before at the Center for Community and Global Health and the box office. I participated in the Winterim pitch competition twice, if you need help with that, too! Now I’m doing an internship in downtown Portland at the OSU Food Innovation Center. Happy to help navigate opportunities on and off campus!
