Sarah Smith, LC’25

Major: Psychology, Minor: Health Studies
Interned at Rose Haven

“I think this experience has confirmed what I’d like to do in my career. Rose Haven showed me that it was possible to do really emotionally hard work in a way that doesn’t create as much burnout as I’ve seen in other settings. I love how connected Rose Haven is with the community and seeing the abundance of resources is quite affirming to the power of that community.

The most powerful thing about my time at my internship has been hearing stories from the guests at the shelter and seeing how telling those stories makes a real impact on their lives. People need community to thrive and telling stories is one way to create community.”

Sarah was awarded the Health + Humanities Internship funding through the Center for Community and Global Health to support her as an intern at Rose Haven.
