Seth Dozier is an artist originally from St Louis, Missouri. He studied psychology at Truman State University before moving out west to pursue his Master’s in art therapy at Lewis & Clark. Art has been a part of his life since he was a child, and he has used it to express, bless, and decompress. His favorite medium is painting with acrylic, watercolor, or oil. His work is often guided by storytelling and the spirit of play. He currently works in a pediatric medical setting and hopes to continue working with children and youth once he graduates.
Artist Statement
Dear viewer, if my painting could talk, it would be asking you, “Do you remember what it was like to be a child?” The rectangular canvas itself could not contain it, so it stretched itself out in diverging worlds of color. Is it a mess, or is it the product of play? This piece was an attempt for me to represent childlike imagination. The painting taught me not to be afraid of letting my imagination run wild and to embrace the joy of creating. This process provided a shift in perspective for me on how kids may find meaning and freedom through creative expression.
